What if Wednesday - New Improved Birdsong?

Pollution Influencing Birds

Here's an odd finding, no, not that pollution is affecting birds--we've known that for a while, haven't we? But this new effect is unexpected. It seems that in the UK, birds that eat earthworms near a sewage treatment plant (where a high incidence of estrogen can be found in the soil) have new and more 'inventive' birdsong. The female birds here this new song and apparently prefer it over the standard old tune. The bad part is that these affected birds have a weaker immune system and other health risks. Mmm...what kind of what ifs does this inspire in all of you? I'm picturing musical prodigies with markedly shorter life spans.
